Claire Edwards is Director of the Institute for Social Science in the 21st Century (ISS21) and Lecturer in the School of Applied Social Studies. Her background is in urban and cultural geography, and social policy. Her interest in care stems from her work in both academic and practice spheres addressing socio-spatial in/justice in the lives of people with disabilities. She is particularly concerned with thinking about how we might address some of the tensions that exist between calls for disability rights, and calls for care, and with exploring the potential of more expansive understandings of care relations that move beyond ideas of dependence and paternalism.
